It was all happening today at Waterloo Network Rail station! Everyone was busily walking by with their M&S sandwiches and Costa coffees. I started my set at 12pm and was doing ok. About mid way through the set the cutest thing happened. I was performing my song called: ‘For Always,’ and an older couple started dancing in the middle of the concourse! I love when this happens, as a songwriter it is the best feeling in the world, when people feel something with your music! Let's say I was beaming from ear to ear with happiness. People passing by noticed them too and smiled. It was a very romantic and sweet moment.
Next thing that happened was someone started playing the piano somewhere in the station and it was making it hard for me to perform my set over their playing. I think it was one of the station pianos they have in London, that was down near the Black Sheep Coffee shop. I might have to go and play on it myself sometime! However, it did echo a lot the piano and I think that interfered with my set a little bit, as people were putting fingers in there ears due to the clashing of melodies/harmonies of the piano and my performance. Nevertheless, the show must go on and I kept playing until the end, regardless of the piano background going on.
Also literally about 10 minutes before the end of my set, my high E string snapped mid performance. I carried on playing like nothing happened and then finished my set with a couple of songs, sang with my backing tracks. Each day is always different busking, Always expect the unexpected!
